Clergy for our Speakers Bureau

Positions are now available for English-speaking and bilingual (Spanish/English) Catholic and Episcopal priests and Lutheran pastors interested in preaching in the U.S. on behalf of Food For The Poor’s ministry to destitute families throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

Your participation will open hearts to the gospel message and create public awareness of the Third World’s plight. Through your involvement, you will help Food For The Poor provide needy families with food, medicine, basic housing, education and more.

  • Commitment is only for weekends
  • Salary/stipend, travel and expenses provided
  • No relocation necessary
  • Must have permission from Bishop or Major Superior

Administrative Assistant – Human Resources

 

Do you thrive on challenges and enjoy helping others? If so, Food For The Poor has a unique opportunity in our Human Resources Department to assist with benefits administration, FMLA, and other HR duties.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Process benefits paperwork for newly eligible employees
  • Review and process monthly premium payments for all benefits as assigned
  • Provide administrative support to functional areas of Human Resources
  • Process FMLA, COBRA and disability paperwork
  • Provide support to all FFP staff and/or direct HR-related questions to the appropriate HR personnel
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum three years of Human Resources experience, including benefits administration
  • Confidentiality in carrying out HR duties
  • Payroll experience helpful, ADP preferred
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and show flexibility as needed
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Accuracy with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work under deadlines and work independently with minimal supervision

Data Entry Clerk – Gifts In Kind

 

Do you have superb data entry and computer skills? If you answered “yes” and are seeking a rewarding, full-time opportunity, please apply today. This position involves working with databases to enter donation and inventory information for our Gifts In Kind Department as well as utilizing MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook) and Internet research.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Enter donations through Microsoft Navision
  • Send faxes and emails for the Gifts In Kind Department (GIK)
  • Inbound/outbound phone calls for the GIK Department
  • Sort, log, and file documents
  • Maintain electronic files
  • Conduct research on the Internet
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned by the management


Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma. Additional post-high school courses preferred
  • At least two years of related experiences
  • Excellent keyboard and data entry skills with accuracy, timeliness and attention to detail
  • Competency with figures a must
  • Knowledge of office procedures and equipment
  • Good communication skills
  • Good office/clerical skills
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Internet, Outlook, Word
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus

Special Events Gift Acquisition Coordinator

 

Use your skills and experience to acquire donated goods and services that will be used in gala auctions and national raffles to raise funds that will benefit the poor throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. This rewarding position requires enthusiasm, dedication and strong communication skills.

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Research event areas for prize donations via the Internet, Yellow Pages, Chambers of Commerce, local and national magazines, and newspapers
  • Create database of businesses and individuals to solicit for raffle and auction prizes
  • Send letters and make follow-up calls for prize donations, and pick up items when necessary
  • Assist in the processing of all post-event paperwork
  • Oversee and train volunteers for all aspects of auctions (set up, break down, cashing out)
  • Collect pending amounts due for prizes won at events


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and/or equivalent training/experience
  • At least five years experience in special events, fundraising and telephone experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment
  • Knowledge of special event fundraising, including auctions
  • Knowledge of Auction Pay system and IBM iSeries (AS/400) helpful
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative and self-motivated
  • Detail and multi-task oriented
  • Ability to perform under pressure and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to travel, work weekends and nights as needed
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, and an excellent knowledge of the Internet

Major Giving Representative

 

Food For The Poor seeks a seasoned Major Gifts professional to work with top-tier donors to assist them in identifying and fulfilling their philanthropic goals related to serving those in greatest need. Through this important role, you can make a positive impact and be the change you wish to see in the world!


Overall Responsibilities:

  • Establish new Donor Development initiatives
  • Implement plans for increasing Major Donor support in key areas
  • Responsible for soliciting major gifts from friends of FFP
  • Manage relationships with approximately 125 donors and identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward these friends of FFP
  • Work collaboratively with and in support of donors/volunteers, other development staff, and other representatives of FFP to cultivate and solicit donors for organization priorities
  • Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts in the five figure range
  • Adhere to the highest ethical standards
  • Demonstrate empathetic disposition and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of donors

Skills:

  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major giving donors in order to develop relationships between them and FFP
  • Interest in all aspects of serving the poor and a dedication to promoting FFP’s fundraising priorities through developing excellent relationships with donors/staff /volunteers at all levels
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas
  • Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments
  • Computer savvy; knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications; donor software experience highly recommended
  • Licensed Driver

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Advanced Degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Five to seven years of successful fundraising experience.
