Founded by Miami philanthropist Kimberly Shenker-Bacardi, is a charitable organization consisting of herself and friends dedicated to helping those less fortunate worldwide. After visiting Haiti on a mission trip with Food For The Poor and The Florida Marlins, Ms. Bacardi recognized the need to help. The conditions she witnessed left her with these words, “It’s worse than having nothing! Even clothes become a burden, the heat, stench and filth make daily life unbearable!” Cody Collins in a new mission! - Driven by the Love of Christ I decided to step out on faith and started a Help a Haitian Family Raffle here in Valparaiso, Indiana, the goal is to raise $3.100.00 dollars so a home can be built for a family in Haiti. Hoot/Wisdom Recordings, Florida Atlantic University’s student-operated record label, has developed an initiative to raise support and continued awareness for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods. We have vowed to raise $2600 in an effort to restore and uplift the enduring spirit of the Haitian people with your help. The brothers of Sigma Alpha Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. are asking brothers throughout the nation as well as others in Greekdom and other civic, social and religious organizations to join us in our Haiti House Project as we partner with Food for the Poor, Inc. to build cement blockhouses for families in Haiti. The Lis Mara Syndicate is proud to announce a bold philanthropic initiative to help bring dignity to families who are suffering through the trauma of the earthquake in Haiti. Help Abby and Walker Build a Home Inspired to do this work to help a needy family. Lahatte, Haiti...bring beauty from ashes Rejected and alone is how many people feel in Lahatte, Haiti. They feel alone because they have no one to help them. Barbara Gilbert doesn’t own a home… but she’s given 14 destitute families in Jamaica a new Food For The Poor home of their own. Inspired by a recent visit to Food For The Poor, Rachel Wheeler, 9, plans to build a 25 homes in Haiti. Who is my neighbor? The question once asked of Jesus is now asked of us. Haiti and Jamaica are but a few hundred miles off U.S. shores, yet they seem a world away from our concern. Until, that is, Food For The Poor helped us see our neighbor’s face. Back to top"I am one of the Food For The Poor Speakers. I have been to Kingston Jamaica three times and have been touched with the poverty and the wonderful hearts of the people. People often ask me why do I beg for Food For The Poor. My answer is simple: I have seven children and seventeen grandchildren myself, but I have often seen fathers who cannot feed their children. Food blogger Laura Levy winnings go to hungry children When I joined the Quaker Oats "Awaken Your Senses" challenge, I knew I wanted my potential winnings to go to Food For The Poor. A challenge for Christ the King Church in Charlotte, NC The Family of Christ the King has been challenged to fast for one day during this holiday season and help feed the poor. Join Rob Davis in his quest to feed families I was first introduced to Food For The Poor in 2002, and since then I have developed a deep deep bond with the work that they are engaged in. During this time, I have traveled to both Jamaica and Haiti a combined seven times, seeing some of the most dire circumstances on the planet, certainly without question in the Western Hemisphere. My name is Pierce and I am 8-years. I read that people are having to eat cookies made out of clay and salt because they don’t have enough food. I want to raise enough funds so that 10 families can have their lives changed! According to UNICEF, malnutrition causes half of children’s deaths worldwide. In Guatemala, for example, while malnutrition contributes to 48 percent of deaths in children under age five, 83 percent of these deaths occur in children whose level of malnutrition is considered moderate or mild. Back to topMy name is Sarah Hirschfeldt. I am 17 years old, from Spanish Fort, Alabama. My goal is to raise enough money that would provide the drilling and installation of a well. Getting access to clean water is almost impossible for many poor families. Contaminated water can lead to disease among many, sometimes even causing death. The cost of this project is $5,298. Port De Paix Haiti Water Project Thank you visiting our web site. We are travelers from Atlanta, Georgia who have now several times gone into poverty-stricken Haiti with Food For The Poor, visiting people in Cité Soleil, Cap-Haitien, Port-de-Paix and Gonaïves. We have decided to do something about the water situation. Small Hands with Big Hearts is a fund started by a group of neighborhood parents looking to help out some less fortunate families across the world. Millions of people don't have access to clean water, and often only have access to contaminated water that makes them sick. We want to help. Back to topI have a giant heart and a lot of passion. The poor of Jamaica have become my extended family over the last 6 years. I have seen how badly the children want to learn and see the teachers who are there and need a building in which they can use their passion for teaching to change lives. It is all about hope. Education is a key to the future for these children. This school will be built in a community full of tin shacks. With one school we can give the gift of knowledge to many for generations. Haiti lost over 4,000 schools to the earthquake the UN reports. Food For The Poor wants to build earthquake and hurricane ready schools. The material is ready. The engineer is waiting and the land is vacant. We need visionaries like you, who want to see Haiti’s children thrive and grow like many other children in their half of the world. Eight 4 Third World Hope is a grassroots, faith-based volunteer organization dedicated to providing hope though aid to and awareness of our brothers and sisters in Third World countries. Campion College is a public, co-educational Jesuit high school based in Kingston, Jamaica, which has launched a major fundraising campaign to support the many urgent development needs of the school. The Campaign has as its priority the construction of a proper modern library, which the school has been without for 15 years. Parishioners of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church are fundraising to provide the vocational center they built with the necessary supplies to maintain the center's training classes. The center in Guatemala will provide poor families the opportunity to learn a trade to earn an income. Having received our primary and secondary education in Jamaica, and having migrated to the United States at various times and under various circumstances, our group of friends came together and decided to reach back to our home country and seek out a small under-served community where we could make an impact. Shortly after our group arrived in Kingston, Jamaica we visited several outreach centers throughout the area. Elijah's Trail Training Center, a men's prison and Jerusalem Children's Home, were all very touching to say the least. As a young adult born in Haiti, I know the struggle, I saw it with my own eyes.... and I saw the pain and the fears in the eyes of the children. The fear of not knowing if hunger will kill them. The fear of not knowing if they will be able to finish school or even start school. The South Florida Chapters of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., are asking all GREEK LETTER ORGANIZATIONS to join us bring relief to our Haitian brothers and sisters. This Champion’s page was created as a tribute to all who died in the recent Haiti earthquake. Why not plant a fruit tree in Haiti to remember them? The trees will be a symbol of life, strength and hope. Please donate to Trees For Haitian Loved Ones in honor of someone special. One tree costs $10 dollars. With the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti, we have set a goal to fundraise $6,300 this year, in order to build two doublewide homes with latrines for two families in Haiti. Funds will be raised through our monthly gatherings, group fundraisers, and individual and corporate donations. Haiti, a month after the earthquake, changed me when I visited. My church is now different. Prior to Haiti, prior to the earthquake, I read the gospels differently. As a worship leader, I used to help raise money for remodeling sanctuaries-rallying to buy padded pews for the comfort of our congregations, deciding this is what will win members. I lead differently now, after Haiti. Please join us as we work with Food For The Poor to bring hope to Haiti through Operation Starfish. Since 1998, Church of the Nativity and Food For The Poor have developed “Nativity Village” projects throughout Haiti. The “Nativity Village” concept provides a helping hand until the community can move forward on its own. Leann Chong-The people of Haiti need our help Thank you to everyone who has kept me in their prayers since the earthquake in Haiti, and especially since my rescue and return to the United States. Your prayers have sustained me during this time, and I ask that you continue to pray for the people of Haiti as they recover from one of the worst disasters they ever have experienced. One month prior to the devastating earthquake, a time came where I was able to spend part of this special season working with Food for the Poor, Inc (FFP), serving people who need everything. Pro-Laugh, Changing the World Through Laughter I have formed the charitable organization, Pro-Laugh. Pro-Laugh's goal is to offer free comedy services to local charities, food banks, homeless shelters, churches and aids hospice around the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
