Help for the Dominican Republic

For more than 35 years, Food For The Poor Haiti has worked to lift families out of poverty. More than half of families there are suffering in poverty in Haiti and are on the brink of despair. From the most basic necessities to complex projects that promote sustainability and break the cycle of desperation, our work provide stability, dignity and, new opportunities for a better life. Together, we can break a cycle of desperation and deliver real help for Haiti.

Housing

In 1995, FFTP began building homes in Cité Soleil. Since then, 20,611 homes have been built in Haiti. In 2021, FFTP built 805 homes.

Water

FFTP has installed 1,232 water wells including 158 in 2021. With the help of Water Mission, 169 water filtration units were installed.

Food

FFTP purchased food through local partners to feed 4,000 families in three extremely impoverished area affected by gang violence.

Education

Built one new school with four more under construction after the August 2021 earthquake. Built 29 temporary school shelter modules, 34 in progress.

Medicine

In 2021, FFTP shipped 171 tractor-trailer loads of medical supplies.

Emergency aid

Disasters like hurricanes, COVID and political unrest are met with vital supplies. FFTP sent 215 containers of aid after the August 2021 earthquake.

Children

FFTP works with 32 children’s homes in the Angels Of Hope program, with 1,160 vulnerable children receiving shelter, an education and loving care.

Sustainability

Agriculture, animal husbandry, farming, and other programs provide food and income. There are 43 fishing villages in operation.

Community Support

FFTP has partnered with P4H Global Education Initiative in Haiti to improve the quality of education through a three-year intervention program.

Micro-Finance

In 2012, FFTP established a beekeeping program in Haiti, which provides employment for more than 700 beekeepers and revenue from the sale of honey.

Prison Ministry

Nonviolent prisoners get reintegrated as productive citizens. For Easter 2022, FFTP paid the fines of 182 men and women from 10 different prisons.
