Be an Angel of Hope – Provide comfort and joy to orphaned children

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Dec. 8, 2008) – Every child is a precious gift from God –
especially little ones who are left orphaned and abandoned without anyone to love them. They need angels here on earth to watch over them and ensure their needs are met. For several years, an enthusiastic group of “angels” from Holy Family Catholic Church in East Tawas, Michigan, has made soft, warm blankets for orphans living in Food For The Poor-sponsored orphanages.

Victor Mier, Kay Preston, Larry Winslow, Vicky Winslow, Richard Preston, and Rose Mier, on behalf of Holy Family, delivered 935 blankets to Food For The Poor’s headquarters in Coconut Creek on Dec. 4, 2008. These blankets will be distributed to children living in Food For The Poor-sponsored orphanages in Nicaragua. Blankets previously donated by this group of quilters have been distributed in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

Francie Szymanski originally started a group to make sweaters when her daughter, Tricia Szymanski, worked in Guatemala at malnutrition centers sponsored by Food For The Poor. Two summers ago, Francie Szymanski visited the malnutrition center in Guatemala and realized blankets were more practical and appropriate for the older children.

As a special Christmas present, consider sponsoring an orphan, or sponsoring an orphan in the name of someone you wish to honor. The children in our Angels Of Hope program depend on generous sponsors like you for their survival.

The cost of sponsorship is only $34 a month – about $1.13 a day.
