FFP Responds to Hurricane Irma: Charity is Rushing Life-Saving Supplies to Northern Haiti
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Sept. 7, 2017) Food For The Poor is rushing aid to seven vulnerable areas in northern Haiti to help them recover from Category 5 Hurricane Irma.
Aid was trucked from the charity’s Port-au-Prince, Haiti, warehouse starting on Thursday, and more containers will be shipped from Food For The Poor’s headquarters in Florida next week after the storm passes.
Critical items being supplied are:
- Water
- Food, including rice, beans, sorghum and canned meats and canned milk
- Water boots and life jackets
- Hygiene kits
- Clothes and shoes
- Medical supplies
The areas expected to be hardest hit are Cap-Haitien, Gonaives, Hinche, Mole St. Nicolas, Baie de Henne, Fort Liberte and Bombardopolis.
“The poor in Haiti do not have the means to take care of themselves after a storm, and our generous donors are working with us to meet their most basic needs,” said Food For The Poor President/CEO Robin Mahfood. “Even in the midst of our own storm, God calls us to help the least of these.”
