Former Food For The Poor Executive Joins the Charity’s Board of Directors
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Feb. 17, 2025) – Food For The Poor (FFTP), one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the United States, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dennis A. North, CPA, to its Board of Directors.
North previously served as the charity’s Executive Vice President & Chief Administrative Officer/Chief Financial Officer. For nearly 15 years, he was responsible for the financial oversight of the organization and the core administrative functions that support business processing.
“We are incredibly honored to welcome Dennis back to Food For The Poor as a new member of our Board of Directors,” FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine said. “His longstanding history with our organization, serving as CFO, as well as a member of our executive team and the Board’s Audit Committee, will be invaluable as we move forward.”
“It feels good to be part of the family again,” North said. He believes his knowledge of the organizational and financial aspects of the charity will be extremely helpful as he navigates the responsibilities of his new role with FFTP.
“When I was a member of the executive team, I had the privilege of visiting several of the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean where we work,” he said. “I’ve seen firsthand the needs of the people we are called to serve, and I want to use my knowledge, experience, and expertise to benefit the organization and its mission.”
A longtime Florida resident, North is a graduate of Florida State University and a Certified Public Accountant. After nine years in the public accounting industry, he served as Controller for a regional chain of auto parts stores and was subsequently promoted to CFO. He later opened his own accounting firm and specialized in providing interim CFO/Controller services for businesses.
In August 2008, North accepted a permanent position as the CFO at FFTP, a position he held until his retirement in June 2023. He is eager to learn, continue to grow, and help FFTP achieve its goals as the newest member of its Board of Directors.
“My main goal is to listen and see where God is calling me to act,” he said. “I want to understand my new broader role as a Board member and hopefully provide appropriate counsel and advice.”
North and his wife have two children and one grandson and live in Boca Raton, Fla. In addition to his new appointment to the FFTP Board of Directors, North serves on the Board of Alzheimer’s Community Care, Inc., of West Palm Beach, Fla., where he is a member of the Audit, Finance, and Human Resources committees. He also is active in his church, where he serves as Chairman of the Finance Committee and as a member of its Leadership Development Committee.
