Make Miles Meaningful, Join FFTP’s Multinational Virtual Race
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (May 17, 2021) Don’t let the pandemic stop you from putting on your running shoes and going the distance to help feed hungry families. Food For The Poor is hosting its first Race For Hunger, a multinational virtual event, June 1 through June 30.
Participants in the United States, Canada and Jamaica will raise funds to provide 1 million lifesaving meals to children and families throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.
“It’s been more than a year since COVID-19 became a pandemic, and many advances have been made to treat and to stop the spread, but this virus has maintained its stronghold on the truly destitute,” said Food For The Poor President/CEO Ed Raine. “We are committed to assisting as many as possible in the countries where FFTP serves. We want to encourage everyone to support the Race For Hunger event. It’s a fun way to participate in activities to raise money to feed families still recovering from the effects of the coronavirus.”
In addition to the 1 million meals, five homes will be built for families in dire need in Jamaica. Participants there will have an opportunity to walk, run or ride to fundraise to build these homes.
FFTP’s Race For Hunger has beginner to advanced fitness challenges, and all ages are invited to join in on the fun. Walkers and runners will have a choice of a 5K, 10K, half marathon or marathon races. This year’s event will offer cyclists a choice of 10 miles, Quarter Century (25 miles), Metric Century (62.13 miles) or Imperial Century (100 miles).
Participants have the entire month of June to complete their Race For Hunger challenge in however many sessions desired, whenever and wherever they like. There will be rewards for top fundraisers and teams.
Register and donate at www.FoodForThePoor.org/race. There’s a $35 registration fee per person. Each Race For Hunger team consists of up to 10 members committed to meeting the team fundraising goal of $2,000. Individual participants have a $200 goal.
