Take Action Now on Postal Reform Act
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Sept. 22, 2011) — A piece of legislation currently being considered in Congress, the Postal Reform Act (H.R. 2309), would have a significant negative impact on nonprofits. The near elimination of the nonprofit rate discount (from 40 percent to 10 percent over six years) would equate to an immediate postage rate increase on the order of 10 percent.
How the Postal Reform Act would negatively impact nonprofits. |
Section 403 of the Postal Reform Act would cripple nonprofit organizations with this proposed change to their postage discounts. This is bad for nonprofits and the people, animals and environment they strive to protect. If enacted, the incentive for charitable giving would diminish severely, resulting in lower contributions and fewer resources to help those in greatest need.
