Six Auntie Anne’s to Donate Proceeds to Food For The Poor on June 29

	Brooke Taylor, 95.5 FM The FISH Cleveland Morning show co-host, cradles a child that is receiving treatment at a Food For The Poor-sponsored nutritional center in Guatemala. Brooke’s co-host Len Howser will broadcast on June 29 from Auntie Anne’s Pretzels at the Summit Mall in Akron, Ohio.

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (June 25, 2013) – Take time to enjoy a fresh Auntie Anne’s pretzel on June 29, at one of the six participating stores in Ohio listed below, and feed starving children in Guatemala through Food For The Poor. The stores will donate 100 percent of the day’s gross sales.

Auntie Anne’s Pretzels has partnered with 95.5 FM The FISH Cleveland Morning Show co-hosts Len Howser and Brooke Taylor. Their goal is to feed more than 340 children in Guatemala for a year.

To help generate awareness and money to save lives, Len Howser and 95.5 FM The FISH Cleveland will broadcast live Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Summit Mall, 3265 West Market Street, Akron, Ohio, 44333.

A donation of $44 will feed a child for a year, and $133 will feed three children for a year. Donations to feed starving children also can be made online at www.FoodForThePoor.org/auntieanne.

In February 2013, Brooke Taylor traveled to Guatemala with representatives from the nonprofit Food For The Poor to witness the needs of the poor, and to learn how 95.5 FM The FISH Cleveland listeners could get involved. At a Food For The Poor-sponsored nutritional center in San Juan Sacatepéquez, Brooke cradled children who were receiving treatment to reverse the deadly effects of malnutrition.

“What a great thing, to get involved with The FISH and help Food For The Poor,” said Ray McConnell owner of the six participating Auntie Anne’s. “I heard in my head and my heart, ‘Give them a Saturday. If you are going to do something, give them a Saturday and make something out of it. If you’re really committed to doing something like this, then really do it.’ What are you willing to give?”

According to UN reports, more than 20,000 children under the age of the 5 die of hunger every day. Precious children like Fredy, a 7-year-old boy from Guatemala who weighed only 24 pounds, are falling victim to the preventable tragedy of hunger. Although it was too late to save his life by the time he was brought to a Food For The Poor-supported nutritional center, millions more like him can be saved with the provision of basic nutrition.

Food For The Poor, named by The Chronicle of Philanthropy as the largest international relief and development organization in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance, with more than 95 percent of all donations going directly to programs that help the poor.
