Nicolás Argüello
Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy & Impact Officer
Nicolás Argüello, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy & Impact Officer, oversees all aspects related to Food For The Poor’s (FFTP) program strategy, quality assurance, project design, capacity building, and monitoring and evaluation. Before joining FFTP, Nicolás spent eight years heading the organization’s long-time implementing partner, the American Nicaraguan Foundation (ANF), which was one of Nicaragua’s leading relief and development organizations.
While at ANF, Nicolás collaborated extensively with FFTP staff and donors on innovative development projects and several initiatives to build sustainable livelihoods for Nicaragua’s impoverished children and families. In addition to his
time at ANF, Nicolás has worked in various areas ranging from microfinance and education policy to mobile technologies for development (ICT4D) and social venture capital.
Nicolás has done consulting work for numerous organizations, such as FINCA (Nicaragua), DAI (Mexico), Acumen (Kenya), The Earth Institute, Millennium Villages Project/UNDP (Kenya), the Oxford Seed Fund (UK), and the NYC Department of Education. Nicolás holds a dual BA in Economics and Theology from the University of Notre Dame, an MPA in Development Practice from Columbia University, and an MBA from Oxford University, where he received the Skoll Scholarship for Social Entrepreneurship. Though Nicolás travels extensively, he lives in Nicaragua with his wife and daughter.
