The community of Manneville in Haiti is only about 860 miles from Boca Grande, Fla., but it is a world away.
Boca Grande is a tranquil paradise that regularly appears on ‘best places to live/visit in Florida’ lists. Meanwhile Manneville (up until recently), was a barren village filled with crumbling mud huts and stark poverty. But things are starting to change in Manneville.
Thanks to the care and generosity of the Boca Grande community, families in Manneville have received 33 solidly built Food For The Poor homes, and so much more.
The Boca Grande Hope for Haitians Committee is far from finished however. They’ve been meeting critical needs in Haiti through Food For The Poor since 2009, and they continue to shower blessings on children, families and communities throughout the country. This year they plan to help bring positive transformation to the village of Pon Batay.
Here are some highlights of what the Boca Grande community has provided so far in Haiti:
– 135 homes with sanitation and a water cistern
– 2,850 fruit trees
– 2 water treatment units
– 1 vocational training center
– 2 community centers
– 1 basic school
– 6 solar-powered street lights
– 1 micro-enterprise project for women
Let’s pray for more communities to open their hearts like Boca Grande!
