Linda Coello
Founder and President of CEPUDO
Linda Coello is Founder and President of CEPUDO, a non-governmental organization in Honduras. A longstanding, trusted partner of Food For The Poor (FFTP), Coello is a member of the charity’s Board of Directors. Together, FFTP and CEPUDO are working to overcome poverty in Honduras by providing shelter, food, education, training, and emergency relief.
For example, in November 2023, when heavy rains in Honduras caused flooding and mudslides in the northern part of the country, FFTP and CEPUDO distributed disaster kits, food care packages, and emergency personal hygiene kits throughout the communities the charity serves.
In addition, in 2022, FFTP and CEPUDO started the Los Achiotes Sustainable Community Development for 74 families struggling to live in an area deemed uninhabitable. CEPUDO also manages a training program that helps women gain employment as truck drivers and take their families out of poverty while providing greater economic opportunities for their families.
Coello has spent a great part of her life serving others. She has actively supported cultural and artistic events and fostered community development projects by providing training to artisans and farmers. She also has supported orphanages and nursing homes, participated in health emergency relief projects, conducted lectures on first aid and hygiene, and collaborated with the Honduran Fire Department on rescue training and other activities.
In 1998, following the devastating impact of Hurricane Mitch, Coello initiated “Women in Development,” which provided training to single mothers with the aim of helping them acquire resources and assistance to support their families. It is through this program that her life’s project, CEPUDO, was established.
