FFTP and partners MAP International and Edwards Lifesciences provide monitoring technologies to six hospitals in the Dominican Republic to help care for critically ill patients affected by COVID-19.

FFTP donors provided cochlear implants for a 5-year-old girl, enabling her to hear for the first time in her life.

FFTP began the Angostura Water Project, one of more than 40 projects underway, in its ongoing commitment to provide a supply of drinking water to residents in remote areas.

Thanks to the generosity of its donors, FFTP built the Hato Del Yaque Health Center to provide free medical consultations and prescriptions for elderly patients who cannot afford to pay for their care. The center also charges a small fee for those who can pay for services to keep the center self-sustaining.

FFTP partnered with UPS to install a 12,000-gallon concrete water tank that houses and pumps well water for the tiny community of Rancho Nuevo, near Puerto Plata, and for the construction of a 3,000 square-feet greenhouse in Batey Antonci, Monte Plata.

FFTP arranged for the release of 50,000 tilapia fingerlings donated by the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) to the Río Baquí Tilapia Center, in a joint effort with the Research Center for the Animal Improvement (CIMPA) and the Diocese of Puerto Plata. The fingerlings were added to an earlier donation of 47,000 to start the project aimed at providing a source of food and income for area families.

FFTP, in a joint effort with the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF), inaugurated the La Siembra Vieja Tilapia Project in Siembra Vieja. The project is a multi-pond self-sustaining fish farming initiative designed to enhance food production in countries that are food insecure. In addition to three tilapia ponds, FFTP provided La Siembra Vieja with 76 double homes, latrines, water supply, school facility and a multi-purpose clinic.

FFTP shipped 375,000 pounds of dry milk to supply feeding programs targeting children, the elderly and those in need, thanks to a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture under the 416(b) Presidential Initiative Program.

FFTP began working in the Dominican Republic with partners such as Caritas Puerto Plata, Fundación Cruz Jiminián, and the Asociación Dominicana de la Orden de Malta to distribute medicine and medical supplies throughout the country.
