Daniel Rouzier Appointed as Honorary Consul for Jamaica to Haiti

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (June 2, 2010) –The Jamaican Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade has announced that Daniel Rouzier, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Food For The Poor/ Haiti, has been appointed Honorary Consul for Jamaica to Haiti. Rouzier will officially represent Jamaica’s government to facilitate communication and support between the two Caribbean countries, which lie about 300 miles apart.

Rouzier was profiled on CNN in late January when he took it upon himself to bury an estimated 2,500 earthquake victims in a compassionate and dignified manner. He said he hopes to represent Jamaica in such a way that will allow the country’s officials to play a highly significant role in the current reconstruction efforts in Haiti.

“This is an honor,” said Rouzier. “I will do my best to be a worthy representative for Jamaica in Haiti. I am extremely grateful for this designation.”

Rouzier has been working with Food For The Poor/ Haiti for more than 14 years, helping to provide food, housing, medical services, education and more to the poor and their families within that country. Since 1996, he has also founded and managed several companies in Haiti. Rouzier has authored three books and serves as a regular contributor to Haitian daily newspapers. He was born in Port-au-Prince.
