Food For The Poor Day Celebrates Faith, Fellowship, and Transforming Lives
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (April 9, 2024) – Food For The Poor (FFTP) will host Food For The Poor Day on Tuesday, May 7, and the community is invited to join the charity for a celebration of faith and optimism.
The festive day will be filled with various activities, starting with a prayer service open to all from 9 to 9:30 a.m. in the Prayer Room of FFTP’s Coconut Creek headquarters.
Following the service, guests will have an opportunity to tour the building and warehouse at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., or 3 p.m. During these tours, they also will have the chance to pack disaster hygiene kits for Haiti or try on a virtual reality headset and transport themselves to one of the countries where FFTP helps people in need.
The highlight of Food For The Poor Day will be the release of Glacia Robinson’s latest album, “Hands of Mercy.” Fifty percent of proceeds from the album will go to support FFTP programs.
A reception for guests to mix and mingle with FFTP’s leadership team will begin at 6 p.m. in the FFTP lobby prior to the album release and concert.
Robinson will perform songs from the album in FFTP’s Prayer Room at 7 p.m. The songs were written and inspired by Robinson’s experiences with FFTP.
Joining Robinson in this special performance will be the Cason Kids Chorus from Cason United Methodist Church in Delray Beach, Fla., and FFTP’s own CRUSE Tones band, adding their voices to the evening of celebration.

“Food For The Poor Day is a momentous occasion for our organization, as it allows us to reflect on our mission and reaffirm our commitment to serving those in need,” FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine said. “Through events like these, we aim to not only raise awareness about the critical issues of hunger and food insecurity but also inspire action and solidarity within our community.”
A household name in Jamaica, Robinson is an award-winning singer, songwriter, composer, producer, author, and inductee in the Caribbean Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
In 2020, moved by the overwhelming news of the spread of COVID-19 and wanting to provide hope and comfort, Robinson poured out her heart in one day and wrote the lyrics to a song titled “We Are One.” The song became the theme of FFTP’s annual National Event – We Are One.
In conjunction with Food For The Poor Day, the charity will launch a food-match campaign to raise awareness about the critical issues of food insecurity, hunger, and malnutrition.
Every $1 donated on Food For The Poor Day, May 7, 2024, will be matched to provide $3 worth of food up to $500,000.
