COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (April 30, 2013) – There’s still time to register for the second annual Hope For Haitians 5K Walk/Run For Education. Pre-event registration will be held at the Kane County Cougars game at 6:30 p.m. on May 4, but you also can register online at any time at www.HopeForHaitians.org.
The 5K Walk/Run will be on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at 8:30 a.m. at the Kane County Government Center located at 719 S. Batavia Ave. in Geneva, Ill. Registration is $25 for adults and is free for participants 17 and under. All registered participants will receive goodie bags and a T-shirt.
This family-themed event will feature live music, balloon artistry and face painting. It is a perfect opportunity for anyone at any fitness level to help raise awareness and funds for much needed school supplies and uniforms for children in Haiti, through the nonprofit organization Food For The Poor.
It doesn’t take a lot to make a huge impact:
- $20 provides basic school supplies for a child for a year.
- $31 provides a pair of shoes, socks and uniform for a child.
- $51 provides the basic school supplies, a pair of shoes, socks and uniform for a child to attend school for one year.
For every $50 raised, the participants’ names will be entered into a grand drawing for four tickets to a White Sox game on July 23 at 7 p.m. The fortunate four will have a great view in section 132, row 18, seats 1-4. Participants who raise $250 will also be entered into a drawing that includes gift cards, gift baskets and many more prizes.
