Taiwan Officials Visit Food For The Poor: Agreement Details How the Charity and the TaiwanICDF Will Work Together
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (July 31, 2019) The Director General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Miami visited Food For The Poor on Tuesday to mark the signing of an agreement between the charity and the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF).
Director General David K.C. Chien and Food For The Poor President/CEO Robin Mahfood talked about the charity’s work and the importance of combining the expertise of the two organizations to find better solutions for those who live in poverty. Chien was joined by Consular Officer Adolfo Sun.
The agreement covers how the charity and the TaiwanICDF will work together to implement cooperative projects in Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala and Nicaragua with possible expansion to other countries.
“Taiwan has been a wonderful friend of this organization for more than a decade. We are grateful for this enduring partnership and the good work to be done in the future,” Mahfood said.
Food For The Poor and the TaiwanICDF have cooperated on numerous projects over the years, from outfitting schools and orphanages in Haiti with more than 1,000 computer workstations, to planting 2,800 papaya trees in Chacraseca, Nicaragua, and developing aquaculture and animal husbandry projects in Honduras that help make the poor self-sufficient.
