Description

Your contribution to support our Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene, (WASH) Fund allows us to provide access to water through the drilling of wells, installment of cisterns and water catchment systems, submersible pumps, and other efforts. The fund also supports hygiene kits for families and wastewater treatment initiatives that are crucial in the battle against waterborne illness and disease.

Improved public health

By providing access to treated water for drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene, and promoting proper sanitation practices such as the use of latrines and safe disposal of waste, the WASH Fund program can significantly reduce the incidence of waterborne diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid fever. Moreover, these improved hygiene practices also help lower the occurrence of other infectious diseases, resulting in better overall health outcomes for communities.

Enhanced education and productivity

Access to treated water and sanitation facilities in schools and workplaces improves attendance rates and productivity. Children, particularly girls, are more likely to attend school regularly when adequate sanitation facilities are available, reducing absenteeism due to water-related illnesses or the need to fetch water from distant sources.

Environmental sustainability

The WASH Fund program prioritizes sustainable water management techniques like rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge, and water conservation. By advocating for environmentally friendly methods of managing water resources and sanitation, the program safeguards ecosystems, preserves water reserves, and minimizes the effects of climate change on water availability and quality.
