Bicyclist Rides in RAGBRAI to Raise Awareness About Favorite Nonprofit Food For The Poor
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (July 23, 2010) – Robert Doherty is an avid bicyclist and advocate for Food For The Poor, the largest international relief and development organization in the United States.
Doherty hopes his participation in the annual RAGBRAI 2010 Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa will generate awareness about the nonprofit’s humanitarian mission in 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. An expected 10,000 riders will navigate this weeklong 472-mile trail, which winds through eight cities in northern Iowa – beginning in Sioux City and ending in Dubuque.

Food For The Poor has sent more than $100 million worth of aid to Haiti, since the 7.0 Magnitude earthquake devastated the country on Jan. 12.
