Supporting Food For The Poor is Smart Giving: Year-End Fundraising Campaign Includes Triple Match to Help Families in Need
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Dec. 9, 2024) – As 2024 draws to a close, Food For The Poor (FFTP) donors have the opportunity to multiply their level of support with a year-end gift to provide food for families in need.
Every dollar donated to FFTP’s Smart Giving campaign by Dec. 31, 2024, will be matched with $3 worth of food up to $1 million, tripling the impact of donors’ support and extending the charity’s reach even further.
“Even with all that we’ve accomplished in 2024, the need for support remains high,” FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine said. “Vulnerable families and marginalized communities still urgently need help, and a year-end gift will have a direct impact.”
The charity’s campaign slogan, “EASY AS 1, 2, 3x the Impact,” emphasizes the match and illustrates the enormity of its reach. Donors have multiple ways to give, including cash, stocks, and other noncash assets. Gifts made before December 31 may be eligible for tax deductions.
“Each gift will give donors the profound satisfaction of helping families in the countries where we work by providing nutritious, lifesaving food,” Raine said.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, food insecurity has reached critical levels, affecting 247.8 million people, including 43 million who suffer from hunger, according to the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Regional Office. Despite some recovery from pandemic-related setbacks, food insecurity rates continue to exceed pre-pandemic levels.
The FFTP Smart Giving campaign aims to respond to this critical need by helping people like Urbano and Sandra in Honduras where, despite their best efforts, they struggle to provide meals and education for their three children, Cessia, 5, Nelcy, 11, and Luis, 13.
Sandra takes care of the home and her children, while Urbano works as a day laborer in the fields, returning home at the end of the day with food for his family. The family can only eat twice a day, subsisting on beans in the morning and in the afternoons.
“By making a year-end gift, donors can help families like Urbano and Sandra’s not only survive but also work toward a brighter, more sustainable future,” Raine said. “It’s the perfect way to end the year on a high note.”
FFTP calls year-end giving “smart giving” because of its threefold benefits:
- •Every dollar donated will be matched with $3 worth of food, up to $1 million.
- •Contributions and gifts, which can be made in the form of cash, stocks, and other noncash assets, that are made before December 31, 2024, may be eligible for tax deductions, providing financial advantages for donors.
- •Most importantly, donors experience the profound joy of transforming lives.
