Staff of Bankers Healthcare Group Packs 400 Backpacks for Food For The Poor
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (July 30, 2018) Hundreds of children in 11 orphanages throughout Guyana will have the tools they need for the start the new school year, thanks to a generous donation from Bankers Healthcare Group (BHG) to Food For The Poor.
On Thursday, Aug. 2, at 2 p.m. at Bankers Healthcare Group, 10234 W. State Road 84, Davie, Fla., BHG employees, as part of the “BHG Cares Crew,” will fill 400 backpacks with notebooks, crayons, pencils and other school supplies.
The provider of financial solutions for healthcare professionals has donated nearly 2,000 backpacks with supplies to the charity. The partnership began in 2015 to honor the life of Peter “Tato” Estrada, who lost his battle with cancer that year. Estrada, who was committed to helping children in need, was the brother-in-law of BHG’s co-founder Bob Castro.
“Many of these children don’t have the means to pay for the everyday school supplies they need for an education,” said Castro. “Being able to make an immediate impact on the lives of them and their families is something we look forward to every year with our partnership with Food For The Poor.”
Food For The Poor’s Angels Of Hope child sponsorship program provides loving care, food, clothing, shelter, and an education for more than 7,000 children in 176 orphanages throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.
“None of what we do would be possible without the loving support of our donors,” said Food For The Poor Executive Director Angel Aloma. “But it is especially wonderful how the founders of Bankers Healthcare Group are committed to honoring the memory of their loved one by having its staff put together backpacks to help the less fortunate. Their generosity is a real blessing, especially for the children in our Angels Of Hope homes.”
