The Human Toll Continues to Grow

1.8 Million People Need

Urgent Assistance

A devastating series of earthquakes has struck Venezuela, with the epicenter located approximately 100 miles west of Caracas. A magnitude 7.2 foreshock was followed less than a minute later by a powerful magnitude 7.5 earthquake—the strongest to hit the country in more than a century. The disaster impacted the Capital District (Caracas) and the states of La Guaira, Miranda, Carabobo, Aragua, Falcón, and Yaracuy. La Guaira has been declared a disaster zone. As of June 28, authorities report 1,450 fatalities, 3,150 injuries, and 51,000 people missing. UNICEF estimates that 1.8 million people, including 680,000 children, need urgent humanitarian assistance.
