Food For The Poor prioritizes the preservation of human dignity and the care of those in need. We address poverty through sustainable, community-driven solutions. From 2019 to 2023, we served 943 million meals and distributed $3.2 billion worth of aid. Our community of donors and volunteers share our belief that poverty is not inevitable. Join us in the fight against poverty—support our charitable organization by spreading the word, shopping from our humanitarian gift catalog, or becoming a donor.

Beyond the Plate: stories that go far beyond feeding the hungry

Join Paul and Danny live in the studio for Season 1 and 2 of Beyond the Plate where they host thought-provoking conversations with an inspiring lineup of changemakers. From Barron Segar, CEO of World Food Program USA, and Monica Majors of World Central Kitchen, to Steve Urchin, manager of Sean Paul, Ruth Alvarez-DeGolia, Founder and Executive Director of Mercado Global, Mike Mantel, President and CEO of Living Water International, and global music legend Shaggy—each episode explores powerful stories that go far beyond just feeding the hungry. This season highlights bold leaders, creative problem-solvers, and compassionate innovators who are breaking the cycle of poverty and creating lasting change around the world.

You'll also hear inspiring perspectives from Cedella Marley, daughter of the legendary Bob Marley, Christian singer Blanca, and beloved Hispanic star Angélica Vale, as they share how uniting communities through sustainable development can create meaningful, long-term change. Tune in for powerful stories of hope, resilience, and real solutions that uplift lives and nourish the soul.

From Seeds to Market

From Seeds to Market, a grassroots initiative in partnership with Acceso, empowers poor rural families in Haiti, and El Salvador by tackling hunger through sustainable agriculture. The program equips families with seeds, tools, training, and market access, enabling them to grow their own food, expand production, and build self-reliance. By offering a local alternative to food imports, From Seeds to Market fosters sustainable communities and enhances dietary diversity for those in need.

Program Highlights:

  • Training: Farmers receive hands-on training rooted in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
  • Inputs: High-quality seeds, seedlings, and fingerlings are delivered at low cost to participating farmers.
  • Financing: Farmers access low-interest loans to obtain tools and inputs, which are repaid through produce rather than cash, easing financial burden and promoting reinvestment.
  • Storage & Logistics: Harvested crops are purchased at fair market prices and stored using a hub-and-spoke model.
  • Multi-Crop Processing: Local labor is employed in processing facilities where crops are transformed to meet formal market standards.
  • Sales & Distribution: A dedicated team secures long-term contracts with major buyers, including humanitarian organizations.

We are committed to finding simple, effective ways to fight hunger and poverty without causing harm to the people or the countries we serve.
