Could I transfer funds directly from my IRA to Food For The Poor?
You can transfer funds from your IRA directly to Food For The Poor. This is an effective way to have an immediate impact and ensure our work of helping those living in poverty achieve the fullness of life as promised by the Kingdom of God.
Here’s how it works:
- You must be 70½ or older.
- An individual may transfer up to a total of $111,000 per year, and a married couple may give up to $222,000 to all organizations.
- Your gift must be transferred directly from the IRA account to Food For The Poor.
- Because this is a direct transfer from your IRA, it does not count as income for the year.
- If you are 73 or older, the transfer counts toward your annual Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).
You can download a sample letter for your IRA administrator here to start the
distribution process. You may also be able to request a qualified charitable
distribution through your online account portal. By using the link below to make a gift from your IRA, you can auto-complete
your paperwork, and we will track your gift to send you the proper tax
receipts.
