Astrid Cortes
Director of Sustainable Livelihoods
Astrid leads a team that strategically strengthens the organization and in-country partners’ programming capacities by integrating innovation, learning, accountability and outcomes-level thinking. This supports Food For The Poor’s (FFTP) work with individuals and communities where it serves to ensure a path toward successfully breaking the cycle of multidimensional poverty.
Astrid brings a wealth of experience of 20 years in international development, impact strategies, program design and implementation, children and youth programs, and research. Prior to joining FFTP in October of 2017, she worked as a consultant for multiple ministries and non-for-profit organizations in research, international community development, program design, capacity building, management and social responsibility in more than 20 countries.
Astrid is a native of Colombia, with a degree in Economics and a dual MBA in International Business and Human Resources.
She lives in South Florida with her husband, Todd, and enjoys traveling the world, photography, reading and living out her Christian faith with a servant’s heart and profound concern for poverty-stricken and marginalized children and families.
