Dianne Ortega Álvarez

Monitoring & Evaluation Analyst

In her role, Dianne is responsible for the design and coordination of monitoring, evaluation and learning activities for community development and income-generating projects. She works closely with in-country partners to incorporate learning and evaluation components into project design and reporting.

Before she joined Food For The Poor (FFTP), Dianne worked as a consultant evaluating various development projects in Mexico and Costa Rica, some of them financed by the United States Department of Labor. Prior to that, she worked as a Project Development and MEL (Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning) Manager at American Nicaraguan Foundation. Dianne also has done consultancy work with U.N. agencies, such as UNESCO, UNOPS and UN Women and nongovernmental organizations such as Save the Children. Dianne also worked in the private sector in Data Management at Kimberly Clark, and performed marketing research for various clients in Central America and the Caribbean.

Born in Costa Rica, Dianne received her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Certificate of  Project Manager of Social Responsibility and Public-Private Partnerships for Development from the University of Costa Rica. She holds a master’s degree in Development Studies from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and completed a Certificate on Qualitative Evaluation of Public Policies from the Center for Learning on Evaluation and Results – Latin America chapter in Mexico.

She is working on a master’s degree in Evaluation of Development Programs from the University of Costa Rica. Dianne lives on the Canary Islands with her husband and baby boy.
