Lynne Nasrallah, Ed.D.

Director & Finance Committee Member

Dr. Lynne Nasrallah has served on the Food For The Poor (FFTP) Board of Directors since March 2001 and serves on the Board’s Finance Committee.

One of the organization’s most dedicated supporters, Nasrallah has been the Celebration of Hope Committee Chairperson for 25 years. Over the last two decades, 14 Emmanuel Villages and more than 1,000 homes in Haiti have been funded directly the gala’s efforts and by matching gifts from various FFTP supporters. The Celebration of Hope Gala also has provided a community center, a medical clinic, a fruit tree farm, a tilapia farm, a school renovation project and seven scholarship programs in Haiti.

Nasrallah spent 38 years in Orange County, Fla., Public Schools as a teacher, career counselor, financial aid coordinator for international students, and as guidance counselor at the middle school, high school, and postsecondary school levels.

For more than 20 years, Nasrallah has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Central Florida and Webster University Orlando campus, where she is known for her dedication to her students in the counseling program. In 2000, her focus shifted when she met an FFTP staff member who invited her to take her first pilgrimage to Jamaica with the charity.

Nasrallah has earned the support of many Orlando-area donors, such as the late Fr. John McCormick, a beloved rector of St. James Cathedral in Orlando, who died Sept. 19, 2016. Fr. John bequeathed a gift to FFTP that was used to build 30 additional homes in Chantal, Haiti. The village’s community center was named in Fr. John’s honor. Prior to the recent unrest in Haiti, Nasrallah returned to Haiti each year to examine the impact of the work and report back to Orlando-area donors.

Since 2000, Nasrallah has traveled with FFTP to Jamaica, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Haiti.

Nasrallah was born in Brockton, Mass. A widow for 30 years, she was married to Toufic Nasrallah in Byblos, Lebanon, and the couple has two daughters, Dr. Desirae Nasrallah Friend, and Dean Nicole Nasrallah.

Nasrallah holds three academic degrees, including a Bachelor of Science in Education from Stetson University in Deland, Fla., a Master’s in Education, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, both from the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

In addition to serving on the FFTP Board, Nasrallah also volunteers on Bishop Noonan’s Diocesan Review Board, the St. James Cathedral Extraordinary Minister of Holy Eucharist, the Christian Service Center for the Poor and Homeless and Faith-Based Council for Superintendent of Orange County Public Schools.
