The Check Cashing Store Helps Haiti
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (March 15, 2010) – When customers told The Check Cashing Store they wanted to raise money to help Haiti after the earthquake, the company opened its own checkbook in response. The joint effort resulted in a donation of more than $68,000 that will go immediately to help the struggling country through Food For The Poor.
Algustus Lee, Florida Market Manager for The Check Cashing Store, said that all 104 stores in the state participated in the fundraising.
“It truly was a grassroots effort,” Lee said. “Our customers were the ones who came to us and said they wanted to donate money, and then we matched it dollar for dollar. We wanted to bring it someplace where it would do the most good.”
The Check Cashing Store, Inc., was established in 1982 and provides low cost financial services in more than 100 locations throughout Florida.
