FFTP’s El Salvador Food Support program for COVID-19 relief provided 36 communities living in poverty with a three-month supply of nutritional support, including 50,280 pounds of beans; 40,224 pounds of rice; 251,400 pounds of cornmeal; 50,280 pounds of sugar and 5,028 gallons of vegetable oil to the mostly rural communities.

FFTP dedicated the Peacemakers Community of Hope, a 35-home community in San Miguelito built by donors led by retired Maj. Gen. Bernard “Burn” Loeffke and his fellow alumni in the White House Fellows Class of 1970-71. The community also included a memorial garden planted by Loeffke in memory of his closest friends who were White House Fellows, as well as a memorial for Peter Wang, one of 17 killed in the school shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14, 2018.

FFTP provided 30 new safe, secure homes with water, sanitation, and the supplies and resources necessary to raise chickens in Caserio Copante. Nine families in the community also received a generous supply of thread to make their colorful hammocks, plus help covering the initial cost of transporting them to sell directly to customers at local markets

FFTP worked on four active housing projects benefitting more than 90 families. Each included an animal husbandry program to provide income, and a greenhouse to provide nutrition and a source of income for families.

FFTP worked with 10 children’s homes to sponsor 333 children as part of the Angels Of Hope program, providing support to improve infrastructure and implement sustainable development projects, as well as donated items such as clothing, personal hygiene products, shoes, food, cleaning supplies, and school materials.

FFTP built four schools, implemented an agriculture project, and began implementing seven animal husbandry projects.

FFTP joined other non-governmental organizations in transporting school furniture and supplies to new schools impacting 221 students. Midwest Mission Distribution Center, an NGO that collaborated with SOUTHCOM, supported the schools’ construction.

The Global Solidarity Ministry Committee at the Church of the Transfiguration began working with FFTP to build a village consisting of 20 two-room homes, a library and vocational center, plus animal husbandry projects for self-sustainability in the Valle Verde community, about a 45-minute drive northeast of El Salvador’s capital city of San Salvador.

FFTP showcased sustainable gardens in seven Angels of Hope homes for children in El Salvador in partnership with New Horizons for Hope. Planted and maintained by staff and children at each home, the gardens provided a steady flow of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and other vegetables for more than 300 children.

Thousands of children and elderly received new shoes, as part of an initiative overseen by FFTP. More than 5,000 pairs of new shoes were distributed to areas a children’s home, a home for the elderly and children living along the Paleca and Royal Street train tracks.

FFTP shipped more than125,000 pounds of dry milk to supply over 2,000 schools, hospitals, churches, children’s homes, clinics and feeding programs, thanks to a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture under the 416(b) Presidential Initiative Program.

FFTP began working to help the poor in El Salvador, working through several partners, including New Horizons For The Poor Foundation, Fundacion Salvadorena para la Salud (Salvadorian Foundation for Health) and Fundación Empresarial Para El Desarrollo Educativo (FEPADE)
