Thank You for Your Support!

Food For The Poor hosted it’s first annual Honoring Our Veterans Community Day event, on Friday, November 11.

The day began with a special program that recognized local veterans and FFTP team members who have served.

Army Col. J. Frank Melgarejo Jr., of the U.S. Southern Command, a longtime FFTP partner, was the keynote speaker. Other distinguished guests included Coconut Creek (Fla.) Police Sgt. Raphael Marin, a military veteran, and several members of the Coconut Creek Fire Department.

Volunteers then moved to the charity’s Coconut Creek warehouse where nearly 70 volunteers worked together to pack 1,960 Personal Hygiene Kits to commemorate Veterans Day. In addition to packing, volunteers included handwritten thank you notes to the veterans for their service and to provide hope and encouragement.

Thanks to all of you who participated. We truly appreciate your dedication and time in helping us serve those less fortunate!
