Annual 3-2-1 Fun Walk Set for April 5th
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Feb. 7, 2008) — Food For The Poor, the foremost international relief and development agency working in the Caribbean and Latin America, is encouraging teams and individuals to sign-up early and reserve their spots now for the annual Fun Walk on April 5th at the Food For The Poor headquarters in Coconut Creek. Last year, a record number of participants helped raise thousands of dollars to help feed destitute families in the Caribbean and Latin America. This year, Food For The Poor is hoping to raise the bar.
The recipe for the 3-2-1 Fun Walk is simple: walk 3 miles 2 feed 1 family. Just log onto www.foodforthepoor.org/funwalk, register yourself or your team, get everyone you know to sponsor you and show up on April 5th ready to have fun, get some exercise, maybe win a prize or two, and make a difference in the fight against hunger and poverty.
When you collect a minimum pledge of $4 per mile —or a total of $12 from each of your sponsors —you’ll feed a family of four for a month. And while you may never meet the family you help, you can rest assured that every step you take in the 3-2-1 Fun Walk is one step closer to bringing the fight against hunger and poverty to an end.
Food For The Poor’s wide ranging programs help some of the poorest of the poor with nourishing food, safe housing, clean drinking water, health care, and much, much more. Sponsors and donors can rest easy knowing that Food For The Poor is consistently rated as one of the most efficient charities in the United States with more than 96% of all donations going to programs that help the poor.
Registration for the 3-2-1 Fun Walk is just $15 for adults and teens and $10 for kids 6-12 years old. The registration fee includes a T-shirt and lunch but there’s no extra charge for that special feeling you’ll get knowing you’re helping someone who really needs it.
Food For The Poor, the second largest international relief and development organization in the nation and the #1 charity in Florida, does much more than simply feed the millions of hungry poor in 16 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. Since 1982, we have provided clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and emergency relief, with more than 96% of all donations going directly to programs that help the poor.
