Atlanta Residents Support Food For The Poor’s Catch a Tropical Breeze
Note to reporters: Through its feeding center and warehouses in Haiti, Food For The Poor feeds more than 20,000 destitute Haitians every day. Food For The Poor also regularly supplies food to thousands of schools, orphanages, churches, hospitals and other groups on the island.

For the last seven years, Food For The Poor’s relationship with Kevin and Taylor, and the entire team at 104.7 FM The FISH, has blossomed into more than just a partnership; it is a very close friendship. From 2000 to 2007, Fish Atlanta and their loyal listeners have put faith into action and transformed eight Jamaican fishing villages into self-sustaining communities that are breaking the cycle of generational poverty. In addition to boats, engines, gear sheds, freezers, fishing equipment, and training, basic housing has been another major component of our campaigns. Our friends at 104.7 The Fish have raised funds for more than 640 housing units across the island of Jamaica.
Proceeds from Catch a Tropical Breeze will be used to build Food For The Poor houses and a fishing village for a community in Lully, Haiti. Food For The Poor’s fishing villages benefit not only the fishermen, but also their families and communities. Recipients of the fishing boats are taught deep-sea fishing and business practices that are both ecologically friendly and economically sound.
Catch a Tropical Breeze committee members include Chairmen Kim Mahfood Williams and Paul Williams. Event sponsors are the American Nicaraguan Foundation, Coca-Cola Caribbean Service Company, Ltd., The Pereira Family, and Quadriga Art.
