FFP Thanks “Lifesaving, Dream-giving” Donors at Luncheon
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (July 12, 2017) Two of Food For The Poor’s most devoted supporters were recognized today at the charity’s first Luncheon of Thanks at the Marriott at Boca Center in Boca Raton, Fla.
“You are lifesavers, you are dream-givers, and you allow us to be part of that hope process,” Food For The Poor Executive Director Angel Aloma told the gathering of individual donors and corporate sponsors. “You not only have saved the lives of the poor, you have given them the ability to dream.”
Elena Del Alamo, who has supported the charity for more than seven years and has traveled to be with the poor in Haiti and Jamaica, received the 2017 Food For The Poor Volunteer of the Year award. Del Alamo also has served as a committee member for the Building Hope Gala. A team captain for the charity’s meal-packing event, Join The Pack, Del Alamo serves with enthusiasm and a God-inspired commitment.
“It’s all about the children. I think of that song from the musical “Flower Drum Song,” where the character sings ‘A hundred million miracles are happening every day,'” said Del Alamo. “Food For The Poor is one of the instruments making many of those miracles come true. I am blessed to be part of it.”
The 2017 Corporate Sponsor of the Year award was given to DaVita, a Fortune 500 company and leading provider of kidney care across the United States. The company also has supported FFP’s meal-packing events with a company team. In December 2016, 35 DaVita staff members from all over the southeastern United States visited Food For The Poor headquarters to fill backpacks with school supplies for children in Jamaica.

Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America.
