Food For The Poor Launches Triple Tuesday Campaign for Giving Tuesday
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Nov. 26, 2024) – Food For The Poor (FFTP) is inviting donors to make an extraordinary impact this Giving Tuesday, Dec. 3, with a campaign called Triple Tuesday.
Thanks to a generous match from longtime partner Feed My Starving Children, every dollar donated on Giving Tuesday will triple in value, transforming each dollar into $3 worth of lifesaving food for children and families facing hunger.
“Giving Tuesday is a powerful day to come together as a community to support those who need it most, and this year, every gift to Food For The Poor will have three times the impact,” FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine said.
“Our mission is to provide essential support to families in crisis, and with the help of generous donors and partners, we can offer renewed hope and nourishment to those facing severe food insecurity.”
The need is great: globally, more than 350 million children live in poverty, leaving them vulnerable to hunger daily.
In Latin America and the Caribbean, food insecurity has reached critical levels, affecting 247.8 million people, including 43 million who suffer from hunger, according to the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Regional Office. Despite some recovery from pandemic-related setbacks, food insecurity rates continue to exceed pre-pandemic levels.
Donations received by midnight on Dec. 3 will go directly to providing nutritious meals, delivering a lifeline to families struggling to meet their basic needs. Funds raised will support FFTP’s long-term food programs, which provide meals and create sustainable solutions to combat hunger.
As one of the most significant charitable days of the year, Giving Tuesday has inspired more than $13 billion in donations globally since its inception in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y. Recognized on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, it encourages people to give back to the causes they believe in and to improve their communities.
Donors have responded generously over the years to FFTP’s participation in the global Giving Tuesday movement, by:
- •Providing more than 8.6 million meals in 2023.
- •Providing 9.4 million meals in 2022.
- •Funding the construction of 100 homes, along with providing $2.2 million worth of MannaPack rice meals from Feed My Starving Children.
