#GivingTuesday 2021: Food For The Poor Donors Provide 115 Homes, $2.2 Million Worth of Meals

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Dec. 3, 2021) More than 100 homes will be built for families in desperate need of shelter in the countries where Food For The Poor serves, thanks to donors who generously supported the charity’s #GivingTuesday campaign.

Donors gave enough funds to provide 115 homes plus $2.2 million worth of MannaPack rice meals from Feed My Starving Children, a longtime FFTP partner.

In a year of inflation and natural disasters such as the Aug.14 earthquake in Haiti, many families living in extreme poverty already were suffering even more following 18 months of crippling economic hardships because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are so incredibly grateful to our donors for providing the gifts of housing and food as families have endured one crisis after another,” FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine said.

“Every gift matters and means we can be a blessing to even more families living in poverty in the Caribbean and Latin America,” Raine added.

Since its inception almost 40 years ago, FFTP has built more than 88,500 homes that have helped to transform the lives of families throughout the Caribbean and Latin America.

For the past decade, FFTP has been part of the global movement #GivingTuesday, celebrated on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.

Founded in 2012 by the 92nd Street Y, a community and cultural center in New York City, #GivingTuesday is recognized on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is a day set aside to inspire people to collaborate to improve their communities and support the causes they believe in.
