Hope For Haitians Holds Inaugural Bay Lavi “Give Life” Event in Geneva
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (March 15, 2017) Hope For Haitians invites you to attend the Bay Lavi (Give Life in Haitian Creole) Event to help build homes for families in Pistère, Haiti, which is located in the northern part of the country, 16 miles south of Cap Haitien.
“Hope For Haitians is an amazing group of people and we can can’t thank them enough for all that they’re doing to help families in extreme poverty to have a better life,” said Angel Aloma, Executive Director of Food For The Poor. “Pistère is a small community of approximately 3,000 people where most of the families live in dirt floor mud huts, with no sanitation and no potable water. A new community of homes will be a blessing beyond words for these families.”
Bay Lavi will be Sunday, March 19, at Foxfire Restaurant, 17 W. State St., Geneva, Ill. at 6 p.m.
Guests attending will hear keynote speaker Lesly Clervil, Haiti Project Manager of Food For The Poor, speak about the recovery effort implemented by the charity immediately after Hurricane Matthew stormed ashore on Oct. 4, 2016. Clervil also will share how lives are being transformed by the generosity of Hope For Haitians.
Hope For Haitians has worked with Food For The Poor for 16 years and has built 11 villages in the Caribbean country through the international relief and development organization. Funding from the Bay Lavi Event will be used for the construction of two villages in 2017, including a 60-home community in Pistère.
Tickets for the event are $60, which includes two cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres. The event also will have a raffle for Chicago Cubs and White Sox tickets, a wine cellar and authentic Haitian art. Proceeds from these items will help to build homes for destitute families in Haiti.
Founding Trustees of the Hope For Haitians Board of Directors include: Patrick Bachrodt, Rev. David Beauvais, William Clancy, Tom Lorden and Peter Roche. Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicines, educational materials, homes, support for orphans and the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance. Over the last 10 years, fundraising and other administrative costs averaged less than 5 percent of our expenses; more than 95 percent of all donations went directly to programs that help the poor.
