Max Hart Nonprofit Achievement Award Presented to FFP Executive Director Angel Aloma
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2019) Today, Food For The Poor Executive Director Angel Aloma received The Max Hart Nonprofit Achievement Award that recognizes outstanding career achievements by a fundraising professional.
The award is the most prestigious honor bestowed by the DMA Nonprofit Federation. It is presented annually at the Washington Nonprofit Conference.
“I love the work that I do,” Aloma said. “I have accepted this award on behalf of all of us, because it recognizes us as people of love and light.”
Tom Harrison, last year’s winner and the retired chairman and CEO of Russ Reid, presented the award to Aloma.
Aloma was nominated by Harrison and nine other past winners of the award, including Susan Loth, Joan Wheatley, Geoff Peters, Sherry Minton, Chuck Longfield, Kelly Browning, Larry May and Roger Craver.
“Angel is not just an enthusiastic spokesperson for Food For The Poor and for our industry, but I see him as a voice for those who have no voice,” Harrison said. “A champion of the poor.”
While Aloma has been a member of the Advisory Council of the DMA, and served in various other roles, the award extends to his work in other areas of the nonprofit sector.
“When we picture such a leader, such a respected authority on fundraising practices who serves as a source of inspiration and encouragement to others by exemplifying the highest standards of work, and who shares knowledge freely to benefit our community, we can’t help but picture Angel Aloma,” Harrison said.
In his role as FFP’s Executive Director, Aloma oversees fundraising and communications while encouraging innovation and cultivating donor relationships.
Since 2010, Aloma has presented on the art and science of fundraising at numerous DMANF conferences, resulting in requests for repeat presentations. He has also been invited to present at the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the American Marketing Association, Engage, and Bridge Conferences. He has also presented at many educational and religious institutions on the themes of leadership, service and social justice.
In 2012, Aloma was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Service Award from Friends of Good Shepherd, Inc., while receiving the Outstanding Service & Leadership Award from the DMANF in 2015.
