Angels of Hope orphans draw self-esteem, Biblical knowledge from contest

Angels of Hope 2013
Some of the drawings in this year’s contest.

The 6th annual Angels of Hope Drawing Contest is now under way.  This is an exciting time for us as the children look forward to this contest all year. We have so many amazing artists and talented children in the Angels of Hope program and it is an honor to have the opportunity to let them shine and share that talent with the world.  This contest strengthens the children and builds their self esteem as winners are selected on many different levels: by home, by country and the final international competition.

The children and home administrators eagerly anticipate each year’s theme and put so much thought into the drawings that they submit.  The themes provide not only a subject matter for the drawing, but also a scripture reference and thought-provoking verse.  The homes use the themes to guide Bible studies, prayer and other activities.

This year’s theme for the junior division, in which children age 12 and younger compete, is “The Risen Christ.” The theme for the senior division for children 13 years old and older is “The 10 Commandments.”

We’re also hosting the contest online in a big way this year.  The contest link has been sent out to each country’s Angels of Hope coordinator and all of the orphanage administrators.  For possibly the first time, the children and staff of the homes will be voting as well!

You can vote for your favorite drawing in each division through Monday, July 29th at www.foodforthepoor.org/drawingcontest.
