Empowerment for Children: Educating Our Future

June 12, 2023June 12, 2023 FFTP
A teacher in Haiti writes on a chalkboard as students write in their notebooks.

Education is known as the foundation for the development and empowerment of children as future leaders in nearly every society in the world. For many children living with multidimensional poverty in the countries where Food The The Poor helps in the Caribbean and Latin America, access to an education can be extremely limited to nonexistent.

Children without access to education can be at a higher risk of remaining trapped in poverty, unable to reach their full potential.

A child affected by multidimensional poverty can face several disadvantages at once:

Food For The Poor’s focus on providing access to quality education also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal #4 to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

Even though many schools in the countries where Food For The Poor helps are run by churches or governments, who pay their staff and teachers, they still face challenges that require outside help to overcome.

Your support means that Food For The Poor will continue to make a difference in the education and empowerment of children. Provide the gift of education today.

*ANIMAL HUSBANDRY: Food For The Poor has ongoing animal husbandry and apiary programs that support impoverished families and communities. The funds that are raised from animals and bees in this catalog are used to support the aforementioned programs.

**HOUSING: Because of the size and need of the average family, for $9,800, we build all houses with two bedrooms and a living area, sanitation and a water component, a cooking area, a sink, furnishings, lighting and structural elements to withstand severe weather conditions. You will receive a Certificate of Appreciation with a photograph of the family in front of their secure and comfortable home.
