Haiti Desperately Needs You!

November 22, 2021June 17, 2021 Victoria Green

A grave humanitarian crisis is unfolding in Haiti due to escalating civil unrest, skyrocketing food prices, lack of jobs, and hunger. COVID-19 is raging out of control. Without access to the vaccine, new COVID-19 variants have caused cases to rapidly rise in Haiti.

“The hospitals are all full,” said Bishop Ogé Beauvoir, Executive Director of Food For The Poor-Haiti. “They are running out of oxygen tanks, medicines. They are lacking PPE. They’re lacking almost everything.”

Families in Baie d’Orange, Haiti, receive help at a makeshift clinic established after a community leader reached out to Food For The Poor to provide emergency assistance after two children died from malnutrition. Nutrition kits to address malnutrition and family kits with a source of food for the rest of the family were provided

Countless suffering Haitians suddenly stricken with a shift in the pandemic now face starvation, disease and death. Vulnerable Haitians are at risk. Emergency aid must be sent immediately to save lives.

The United Nations expects severe acute childhood malnutrition to more than double this year in Haiti. More than 86,000 children under age 5 could be affected.

“Everybody’s hungry. There’s no jobs. Things are very dire. The need is going to get worse,” said Mario Nicoleau, Chief Operating Officer of Food For The Poor-Haiti.

Food For The Poor needs to send immediate emergency aid where it is needed most, and we need your help. Our dedicated staff in Haiti stands ready to distribute food, water and other crucially needed aid using our trusted network of dedicated partners and churches.

Please help desperate Haitians who are caught in the grip of this mounting crisis.
