Sonali – A Champion for the Poor

November 22, 2021August 20, 2020 Jeanne Villena

Sonali Surve has been a dedicated supporter of Food For The Poor since 2013. Sonali has been collecting food to help families in need for years. Every July, she continues this tradition. Even during the hot days of summer, she relentlessly collects food items despite the challenges it can bring. Sonali has inspired people like her good friend, Abhishek, who began participating in her initiative. In fact, in 2019 they collectively donated over 1,500 pounds of food as word of their fundraiser grew.

Sonali’s journey with Food For The Poor began when she participated in our 2013 5K Walk/Run for Hunger. She believes that donating food to the needy is the highest act of kindness. Her divine appetite and selfless dedication for working towards such causes, continues to inspire those around her.

Sonali runs an innovative food startup called Gfoodz. She has pledged to donate one wrap for every wrap packet purchased. Her passion for nutrition and keeping people healthy is the driving force behind the brand. “I am an entrepreneur and always searching for ways to share my passion,” explains Sonali.

Sonali has raised more than $5,000 this year through her Champions page, and she continues to receive donations to serve the poor.

“I am very fortunate and feel blessed that I was chosen to be the medium for such a cause,” says Sonali. “Last but not least I humbly pray to the ‘Superpower’ to give me more such opportunities of service thanking Food For The Poor from bottom of my heart for this opportunity.”
