Take a Mission Trip: Step into God’s Comfort Zone!

November 22, 2021June 10, 2014 FFTP

“Leann Chong is Food For The Poor’s Missions & Travel Director. She does an awesome job of leading teams and connecting FFP supporters to the real people and places they are serving. Please enjoy this short reflection she wrote about the impact you can make through the gift of presence.”

The motto of Food For The Poor’s Missions Department is: “Don’t just travel the world… change it!”

Many of our participants really take this to heart and want to fix all of a nation’s problems.  While we cannot fix all of a country’s problems in one week,  what we can do is become depositors of hope to the men, women and children we meet.  We are there to show them they are loved by God and they are not forgotten.  Of course, the provision of basic needs such as food, water, clothing and shelter are an important part of the mission experience.  But the gift of presence is the best gift of all!

We have no idea how this unconditional love and encouragement affects a person or family once we have returned home. With God, ALL things are possible!  That is the change we are making – one person, one family, one community at a time.

Join us on a life-changing journey to Nicaragua August 4-8, or Guatemala November 10-14.  Step out of your comfort zone and into God’s comfort zone!

*ANIMAL HUSBANDRY: Food For The Poor has ongoing animal husbandry and apiary programs that support impoverished families and communities. The funds that are raised from animals and bees in this catalog are used to support the aforementioned programs.

**HOUSING: Because of the size and need of the average family, for $9,800, we build all houses with two bedrooms and a living area, sanitation and a water component, a cooking area, a sink, furnishings, lighting and structural elements to withstand severe weather conditions. You will receive a Certificate of Appreciation with a photograph of the family in front of their secure and comfortable home.
