We have a Mission Trip Giveaway winner!

November 22, 2021March 18, 2013 Joy

For the second year in a row, Food For The Poor held its Mission Trip Giveaway over a three-week period.

To determine a winner, we asked a simple question: Why would you like to go on a mission trip to Haiti from July 8 – 12, 2013 with Food For The Poor?

The responses we received were fantastic and heartfelt. From the hundreds of contest entries submitted, one in particular stood out.

Stephanie Han of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, will join our Missions department to be a comfort to our poorest brothers and sisters on the July trip to Haiti.

Stephanie will join the family of more than 8,000 people who’ve traveled with us to the Caribbean and Latin America. Each mission trip provides an opportunity to witness the desperate living conditions of the poor and to see Food For The Poor’s efforts to help alleviate their suffering.

Stephanie was ecstatic on hearing that she won the free trip. “I felt like time stood still, and the Lord had just reached out His hand to me saying, ‘Come follow me,’ ” she said.  “I felt also like I had really been ‘chosen.’  I know that each one of us has been specially chosen by God to be His adopted children, but this was a true experience of that fact.”

In her essay, Stephanie said, in part, that “over these past years, it has been my fervent prayer to Christ, that He would assist me in the ability to truly love, and also to be able to receive love. To be given the opportunity to join hands with these graced people, I believe, would provide the answer to this prayer.”

We are blessed to have Stephanie join us in bringing the Church of the First World to the Church of the Third World.
