Popular On-Air Host to Cycle 100 Miles for the Poor
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (Sept. 24, 2015) Kevin Avery and his co-host, Taylor Scott, are beloved voices on the FISH Atlanta. The popular Christian radio personalities have been on the Georgia air-waves since 2000, and for the last 15 years have partnered with Food For The Poor, spotlighting the plight of suffering children in both Guatemala and Haiti.
On Monday, Sept. 28, Avery will announce on the Kevin & Taylor in the Morning show that he will combine his compassion for the poor with his passion for cycling in support of Food For The Poor’s “Food for a Year & Water for Life” Day of Hope Campaign, which will be on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
On the day of the on-air fundraiser, Avery will ride his bike for 100 miles at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. His goal is to raise funds and awareness about Food For The Poor’s radio campaign, which will provide food and water for destitute children and their families in Guatemala and Haiti.
“We’re so proud of Kevin for coming up with the Haiti100 idea. I told him last week, wouldn’t it be cool if the whole campaign was funded by Oct. 21,” said Scott. “We are abuzz with excitement anticipating our campaign, and it’s still just over a month away.”
Kevin & Taylor in the Morning also are teaming up with the law offices of Gary Martin Hays. The lawyer is challenging FISH listeners to support the bike ride by matching their donations.
“Our overall goal for the upcoming campaign is to raise enough funds to provide care for 5,200 children in both countries,” said Alice Marino, TV and Radio Marketing Director of Food For The Poor. “On behalf of the least of these we serve, we want to thank FISH Atlanta and its listeners for their generosity and wonderful support over the years.”
