Natalie Grant to Perform at FFTP’s National Celebration – We Are One to Help Starving Families
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (August 1, 2022) Top Christian recording artist Natalie Grant is the featured performer for Food For The Poor’s National Celebration – We Are One as the charity aims to raise funds to provide 10 million meals for desperate families who don’t know when or where they will get their next meal.
The virtual event will be streamed from the charity’s Coconut Creek headquarters at 7 p.m. Eastern Time on Thursday, Aug. 11.
“Food For The Poor is being the hands and feet of Jesus by providing meals to those in need around the world and I’m so excited to be their musical guest at this year’s We Are One virtual event,” Natalie Grant said. “It’s going to be a beautiful night of hope for the future and celebration of the work they’ve done for the last 40 years.”
Grant will perform three songs, including Face to Face, Be One and King of the World.
“It is my privilege to share music and hopefully inspire you to do whatever you can to say ‘yes’ to helping those who need it so desperately,” she said.
Grant knows about trials. In 2017, she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer that threatened her vocal chords and her livelihood. Her diagnosis and recovery inspired the content of her latest album, No Stranger, that was released in September 2020.
“The Bible talks a lot about how God is near to the brokenhearted, that He’s near to those who are crushed in Spirit,” Grant told American Songwriter in 2020. “For me, it’s one thing to know those verses and that concept, but it’s another thing to experience it for yourself.”
The nine-time Grammy nominated artist has won the Dove Award Female Vocalist of the Year five times and has been nominated for 42 Dove Awards. She has multiple No. 1 records and albums on the Billboard charts. Her 2020 album, No Stranger, sold more copies in its first week than any CCM album that year.
Earlier this year, Grant received accolades from sports and non-sports fans alike for her rendition of the National Anthem during the NCAA college football championship.
Grant said she is proud to use her platform to draw attention to the needs of families living in poverty.
Many countries in the Caribbean and Latin America that were just beginning to see their economies return to pre-pandemic levels now face a new threat from rising inflation.
According to the United Nations World Food Programme, there are nearly 28 million acutely food-insecure people in the Caribbean and Latin America as of June 2022, a more than sixfold increase compared to pre-COVID crisis level of 4.3 million in early 2020.
The surge in food and fuel prices sparked by the war in Ukraine is threatening to push countries around the world into famine, and spurring mass migration, a top U.N. official recently warned.
FFTP President/CEO Ed Raine expressed his gratitude to Grant for accepting the invitation to help families who face extraordinary challenges and dire hunger.
“This perfect storm is forcing more and more vulnerable people to risk their lives on dangerous migration routes in Latin America,” Raine said. “Ten million meals can provide so much hope for mothers who struggle to feed their children and to families who have no choice but to cut other necessities just to provide food. We Are One is about bringing hope to these families, who need our help more than ever.”

At last year’s event, generous donors provided 10 million meals to families suffering daily from food insecurity in the countries helped by the charity.
The We Are One Online Silent Auction will open Monday, Aug. 8, at 6 p.m. Eastern Time and will close at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on the night of the event, Thursday, Aug. 11.
