Spring Catalog Offers Life-Changing Gifts in Times of Coronavirus
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (May 4, 2020) As many states across this country are taking steps to slowly re-open, our neighbors in the Caribbean and Latin America are on the brink of disaster as they struggle with coronavirus and with the ability to feed their most vulnerable.
The number of coronavirus cases is on a rampant rise in the regions, and so are food requests to Food For The Poor.
“Please be inspired, not depressed by the images of desperation we’re now starting to see in the countries where we serve,” said Angel Aloma, Food For The Poor Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. “Love and hope are what we need to make a difference. Our compassionate donors are wonderful and are willing to help. They are determined to respond to our pleas for food to feed the poor in a variety of ways.”
One of the ways to help is through Food For The Poor’s Spring Gift Catalog, which has many gift ideas, including food for children and families in dire need.
For $10, you can provide a fruit tree that gives families a nutritious and sustainable source of food and additional income. For $40, you can give a gift of 100 pounds of rice and beans, which are important staples that provide vital nutrients to children who otherwise might starve. Gift-givers can feed a family of four for just $24.33 a month, or a child for an entire year for $73.
You can view the catalog at www.FoodForThePoor.org/giftcatalog.
Food For The Poor is taking action to stay ahead of the increasing food shortages in Haiti, Jamaica, Honduras and in the other countries where the charity is serving by purchasing and shipping 52 containers of rice, beans and sausages. The charity has committed to buying additional food from producers within the countries.
Since mid-March, Food For The Poor has shipped 114 tractor-trailer loads of aid, including medical supplies, personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies. The charity is working with 22 trusted partners in 15 countries to assure the aid gets to those who need it most.
“At this time when we are all thinking about how we can do the most good in the world, I encourage those thinking of buying a Mother’s Day gift to consider a heartfelt gift of food from our catalog in her honor,” Aloma said.
Food For The Poor, one of the largest international relief and development organizations in the nation, does much more than feed millions of the hungry poor primarily in 17 countries of the Caribbean and Latin America. This interdenominational Christian ministry provides emergency relief assistance, clean water, medicine, educational materials, homes, support for orphaned and abandoned children, care for the aged, skills training and micro-enterprise development assistance.
