Today: Volunteers Continue Packing Thousands of Hygiene Kits for Venezuela
COCONUT CREEK, Fla. (July 6, 2026) — More than a week after devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela, Food For The Poor (FFTP) continues expanding its emergency response as hundreds of volunteers gather to pack critically needed hygiene kits for families who have lost nearly everything.
After nearly 200 volunteers assembled 6,720 hygiene kits during the first week of the response, the charity is launching two weeks of organized weekday packing events – beginning this morning, Monday, July 6 – as additional relief shipments are prepared for Venezuela.
The hygiene kits will be included with emergency supplies being delivered through trusted humanitarian partners serving affected communities.
Volunteers also will begin assembling approximately 3,000 family food kits using food purchased by FFTP. They will sort and inspect community-donated food and hygiene items and repack them into family food kits and family hygiene kits for distribution to earthquake survivors.
Former Major League Baseball pitcher Juan Rincón, who is from Maracaibo, Venezuela, visited FFTP on Friday to support the relief effort and encourage others to get involved.
“This tragedy has touched everyone in Venezuela,” Rincón said. “We all know someone who has died, is missing or has watched buildings collapse with family members inside. Please help our countrymen. Anything you can do will make a difference.”
