Venezuela and Colombia: Your Impact

Across Venezuela and Colombia, families are facing the aftermath of devastating earthquakes. Thanks to the generosity of Food For The Poor supporters, help is reaching communities in need.

Venezuela: Relief Reaching Thousands

Two months after two devastating earthquakes struck northern Venezuela, Food For The Poor has mobilized nearly 260,000 pounds of aid, reaching more than 21,900 people with essential supplies.

Working with trusted partners, FFTP has delivered four emergency airfreight shipments and seven ocean freight containers filled with urgently needed food, medicine and essential relief supplies — including wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, mattresses and other critical items.

To date, shipments have included:

FFTP volunteers also contributed 2,826 hours at our Coconut Creek headquarters, packing 20,480 hygiene kits, 6,000 food kits and 120 infant care kits for families affected by the disaster.

Through our partners, more than 2,500 internally displaced people have gained access to safe drinking water, while an Order of Malta Venezuela medical brigade has treated more than 16,000 people, including more than 2,500 children.

The response in Venezuela is continuing as we work with our partners to address urgent needs while planning for the longer road to recovery.

Colombia: Help Is Already on the Ground

In Colombia, Food For The Poor is working with Corporación Minuto de Dios to provide emergency food and hygiene assistance to families in affected communities.

Our teams and partners are already on the ground, assessing needs and reaching families with food and hygiene kits.

We are also working with the Order of Malta, CADENA International, and other partners to identify additional ways to reach families affected by the earthquake.

As the response continues, we will share updates on the families reached and assistance provided.
