When a simple Christmas card means the world

November 22, 2021October 18, 2012 Megan
orphan letter

I just returned from a trip to Jamaica, and as we were visiting the different Angels of Hope homes for abandoned and orphaned children, we passed out some letters that were sent by their sponsors.  You cannot imagine how excited the children get to receive a simple letter, a message from afar that they are special and that someone loves them.  These children have been through so much already in their young lives and these messages of encouragement and love are so important.

However, there is a heart-breaking side of the Angels of Hope program:  Only about half of our children in Angels of Hope orphanages receive letters of support. Even if you’re not an official Angels of Hope sponsor, please help us make sure that each and every one of our nearly 4,000 Angels of Hope children receives a Christmas card this year.

To help:
-Please send blank, unsealed Christmas/holiday cards and their accompanying envelopes within larger envelops addressed to Tricia Szymanski, Angels of Hope Christmas cards program, Food For The Poor, 6401 Lyons Road, Coconut Creek, FL, 33073.
-Once FFP determines which children did not receive cards, employees will address the envelopes and write messages within the cards to those children.
-Donated holiday stickers are much-appreciated as well!

On behalf of all the AOH children waiting anxiously for a piece of correspondence, THANK YOU!

*To donate Christmas presents to needy children, please read about our annual FFP Christmas Toy Drive.
