Grenada
Grenada is a picturesque island in the southeastern Caribbean. About 38 percent of Grenadians are mired in poverty, many of whom live in the most inaccessible and drought-prone parts of the island.
Some of Grenada’s most severe poverty can be found on former estates, where barracks-like accommodations are still used by laborers. In such communities, housing conditions are often extremely rudimentary, with no access to sanitation or other basic services.
Grenada measures 133 square miles, about two times the size of Washington, D.C.
